Senator Kiko Pangilinan thinks that President Rodrigo Duterte campaign on illegal drugs will not succeed in 12 months.
Pangilingan on his twitter account said that if Duterte couldn't eradicate the drugs in Davao City for 24 years, how much more the whole country.
He doubts the campaign of the president for a short period of time. As if he was saying it is impossible to eliminate it right away when Duterte took him 2 decades to do it unsuccessfully.
So instead, Pangilinan said the administration should rethink another approach to address it well.
"Our people yearn for and deserve OPLANS that work," Pangilinan said.

On the Current Anti Illegal Drugs Campaign:Let's talk about the facts. In July of 2016, Sunstar Davao reported that over 4000 addicts and pushers surrendered in Davao City as a result of Malacanang's OPLAN Tokhang. If the Davao City anti illegal drugs campaign did not succeed in stamping out and eliminating pushers and addicts in Davao City under President Duterte's 24 year stint as Mayor, what makes us think that the nationwide campaign against illegal drugs will succeed in 6 months (extended to another 6 months)? If a mailed fist policy against illegal drugs did not succeed in eliminating the drug menace in a smaller area (one city) over a longer period of time (24 years), why will it succeed in a larger area (the entire country of over 100 cities and over 1000 municipalities) in a shorter period of time (3 to 6 to 12 months)?Perhaps we need to rethink the current approaches. Our people yearn for and deserve OPLANS that work.PLS SHARE IF YOU AGREE SO THAT OTHERS MAY HOPEFULLY AGREE TOO. http://www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/local-news/2016/07/27/39127-drug-surrenderees-davao-487935http://www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/local-news/2016/07/26/more-drug-surrenderees-davao-city-487692
Well, netizens who read the post of the senator didn't much like it. They also responded and criticized him. But one netizen asked Pangilinan what would be his approach to control illegal drugs. Pangilinan replied:
@ChabiChix85@jfangonilo Modernizing the justice system so that we punish more and swiftly so there will be fear and respect for the law
Netizens still not convinced to his answer and also expressed their opinions about it. Read some of the netizens comments:
Heneza C. @ChabiChix85dba po included naman na ito sa plan? Rehab, yes. As for jobs, ok talaga. But if we dont stop drug trade, still .still mas enticing the money they get from it. And ejk hearing is supposed to do the last one. But nahaluan ng politika ang hearing. Reality here is we have to stop the source of drug trade because kahit anong jobs available, these pushers will go back to their jobs of pushing kasi there is money there. If we stop the trade, then wala ng business. BRUCE Veloso ESMAS @bruce913 ang tanong po yata - what have you done for this chronic problem in the last 10 yrs na ikaw ay senador? Panay dedma lang? Changing Perspective @Banshee_Rants the war on drugs isn't impossible. If you as a senator help instead of criticize. Nasanay masyado sa all talk no action. :( Marvin de Guzman @rchmarvz eh ikaw nga mas matagal na sa senado druga ba masulutionan mo? Sori but u hav failed our COUNTRY! #mahiyakanaman nutc24ck32 @nutc24ck32 you should have been part of the solution while you are in the position and not to put comments like this. The solution is that you need to kill all the roots to kill the tree that only a President with the right attitude can do. Myk and Reese @iamReeseMicah sir tagal nyo ng nasa national position as senator, kung talagang epektibo to sana ginawa nyo to noon pa
